Health Is Wealth

Happy November everyone and boy is it busy in Dubai. In the last 25 years of living here I have never seen Dubai so full, the shopping malls are buzzing and the roads are full of traffic. One has to be smart when travelling otherwise you get stuck in traffic and that’s no fun. Good for us living here, just goes to show that this place is booming and loads of people are coming here for the FIFA World Cup, Rugby sevens and the shopping of course.  We are so blessed. However during this busy season, it is also the seasonal flu season and 7 out of 10 people I meet have a cough, fever, cold and body aches. It actually surprises me to see so many people getting the seasonal flu and it seems quite strong this time, with a lot of respiratory issues, specially coughing. The cough is quite severe and spasmodic.  Do take care during this time as it seems a lot of people’s resistance have come down and they keep catching this awful flu type symptom.

I highly recommend using essential oils during a period of seasonal and weather change. Essential oils like Ravensara, Eucalyptus globulus, Lemon, Ginger, Rosemary, Black pepper and Tea tree are all very good oils to ward off the seasonal flu symptoms.  You can use it by diluting 3 drops of your chosen oil to 5 ml (a teaspoon) of cold pressed vegetable oil and do a chest rub twice a day. Steam inhalations work wonders if you have a stuffy and runny nose, using Ravensara with Lemon in the steam works wonders. The spray method is also very effective specially if you have children going to school, you can create a 50 ml spray bottle adding any 3 of the above essential oils (5 drops each) to 50 ml of spring water, shake and spray on the clothes before your child ventures out and of course yourselves. Remember prevention is better than cure.  Essential oils have a strong anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-septic and anti-bacterial property and stops your cold from getting worse. If you do not have time to create any of these blends than choose just one essential oil e.g. Ravensara and put 2 drops in a tissue and tuck it into your breast or shirt pocket.  This helps tremendously. Do stay safe and keep healthy as the holiday season is upon us.
